In live action movies there’s actually alot of animation specifically in the form of cg effects, the purpose of these should primarily be to not look out of place, and the best way to look outta place is to try to look “too real” because of the uncanny valley if you try to look real but fail it’ll stand out a lot more than if you went a little more absurd, as much as I think michael bays transformers were… not very good, the effects were amazing, I didn’t question the integration of these giant machines at all
But when you’re including your celebrity guest actor in a prime role of your movie, you’re gonna try to make it look as much like him as possible, leading to the scorpion king. Hes too close to real to think of as cartoony and not real enough to look natural, he’s made of plastic.
